Request under the Access to Information Act — Article X of the Non-Proliferation Treaty and assurances to Canada
Hello,
This is a request under the Access to Information Act.
I am a person present in Canada and entitled to make this request under subsection 4(1) of the Act as extended by the Access to Information Act Extension Order, No. 1.
Period covered: 1 January 2020 to the date this request is processed.
I request the following records.
1. Any legal analysis of Article X of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons as it applies to Canada, including any assessment of the procedure, consequences or timing of a withdrawal by Canada
2. Any assessment of the legal enforceability of assurances given to Canada by any allied state concerning the defence of Canada against nuclear attack, including any record identifying the instrument in which such an assurance is recorded
3. Any briefing note prepared for the Minister addressing the effect on Canadian security of a reduction, conditioning or withdrawal of extended nuclear deterrence
4. Any record concerning the position of Canada on the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons since 1 January 2020

I request a waiver of the application fee under subsection 11(6) of the Act. I receive social assistance under the Ontario Works Act and have no discretionary income. If the waiver is refused, tell me how to pay and I will pay the fee. If it is refused, I request the reasons in writing together with the criteria applied.
